Canoe, Kayak, or Tube trips through the beautiful
May 1st through October
What we offer are float trips through the beautiful Tippecanoe River State Park. We are located only a few minutes from the State Park or Broken Arrow Campground where family camping is available. For park campers we can pick you up at your site and return you to your site. Reservations are always good, we do run out of boats on Saturdays. See additional links on the left for more camping information. We will cancel trips due to high water & thunderstorms in the area, it's always good to call ahead to check on river levels & weather.
We supply you with Canoe, Kayak, or Tube, paddles, life vest and transportation up stream to the starting point of your trip. That way you float back to your car. Weekdays & Sundays are better for people who drive in for the day. We want you to enjoy the river and State Park as much as possible. It is some of the last unspoiled areas of the river.
You will have opportunities to see several species of animals and birds, wild turkey, ducks, geese, deer, blue heron, beaver. Some of which are endangered or highly protected species ! Such as the pileated woodpecker, Bald Eagles or river otters !
You rent the canoe, kayak, or tube for the trip, average time is 3.5 hours for the short trip (6.5 miles of river) , 6.5 hours for the long trip (12 miles of river) in canoes. Bring a picnic lunch, stop at the State Park picnic area (Nature Center) or an island for lunch. You must however be back at Tippy-Canoe Rentals by dusk. Tubes take much longer to float, so we put in at the Nature Center inside the State Park for a 3-4 hour trip, tubes are $15 ea. No tubes after 2pm EST. Tube trips start in July. We do not haul your tubes of any type. Reservations in advance are always a good idea, we do run out of equipment on the big weekends & some Saturdays!
We live & operate on EST (fast time).
The short trip is $35.00 per canoe, two paddlers and a small child or family pet is considered the limit per canoe. Single person Kayaks are $25.00 for the short trip. Tubes are $15 each.
The longer trip is $45.00 per canoe with the same capacity. Single person Kayaks are $35.00 for the long trip and must be put in by 11 am est. (fast time). Experienced boaters only !
We rent canoes to campers for camping at the State Park Canoe Camp if you don't have one, plus we will shuttle you back after floating !
We are located 1.7 miles south of the State Park entrance to 250 north. (Airport road), 2 miles east off Hwy 35, North of Winamac, 2111 E. 250 N. Winamac, IN. 46996.
Winamac, Indiana is around 2 hours south and east of the Chicagoland area off Hwy 30, onto Hwy 35 south 20 minutes, or about 2 hours due north of the Indianapolis area, or 2 hours south and west of the Ft. Wayne area !
